Minimum wage rises 3.9% from April 2027: what it means for your people and your payroll

Behind every minimum wage rise are real people: the carer picking up extra shifts, the 19-year-old in their first job, the supervisor wondering whether their pay still reflects their experience. In the 28 October Budget, the Chancellor confirmed that the National...

Employment Law FAQs

Do you support employers or employees?

Both. We believe everyone deserves access to clear, fair employment advice. That said, we work particularly closely with forward-thinking employers who want to reduce risk, look after their people, and build a positive workplace culture. When employers get things right from the start, everyone in the team benefits.

Do you support employers before problems arise?

Absolutely; that’s where we do our best work. Prevention is always more cost-effective than resolving disputes later. We partner with employers who genuinely care about their people and want to create healthy, legally-compliant, inclusive workplaces.
From drafting contracts and policies to training managers and shaping culture, we’re here to help you get things right from day one.

Why shouldn’t I just use AI instead of a lawyer?

AI can tell you what the law says, but it can’t tell you what you should do. Employment issues are rarely black and white and often involve strategy, context, personalities, and risk. AI can’t weigh those factors, it can’t defend your decisions, and it can’t support you through a sensitive situation.

We provide bespoke, human advice that is tailored to your circumstances rather than just offering generic guidance.

How often does employment law change?

Constantly. Employment law moves quickly and can be affected by new legislation, case law, government policy, and guidance updates. Part of our job is staying ahead of those changes and making sure our clients understand what they mean in practice. We keep you informed, compliant, and prepared so that nothing comes as a surprise.

What does it cost?

We offer clear, upfront pricing with flexible options to suit the level of support you need.

As the Finance Director of a mid-sized manufacturing firm with no internal HR team, I have had the pleasure of working with Thrive Law for our HR and employment law needs for many years now and have been a part of their growth.

Their team has been instrumental in providing comprehensive employment law and HR advisory services, including assisting with employee disputes and litigation, reviewing and drafting employment contract templates, advising on employment policies, and guiding us through compliance with
incoming employment regulations.

They have also supported us in disciplinary and grievance matters and provided valuable training for our HR staff on employment law updates. Thrive Law’s responsiveness and approachable nature have made complex legal processes more manageable.

Their commercial and strategic mindset has ensured that our company remains compliant and well-prepared for any employment related challenges. I highly recommend Thrive Law to any organisation seeking dedicated and knowledgeable HR and employment law support.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I attended a webinar on the ERA. I thought the session was really informative and highly practical. It was also very engaging. I’ve sat through many webinars in the ERA trying to absorb as much as possible and this is by far the best one I’ve attended. The speakers were enthusiastic, down to earth and conversational. I also submitted a question in advance which was picked up during the webinar. Extremely helpful thanks.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Jodie recently spoke at one of our Scottish Young Lawyers’ Association events. This was an excellent and thought provoking session where Jodie discussed neurodiversity and reasonable adjustments. Jodie brought a truly invaluable perspective, combining her experience as an employment lawyer with her own lived experience of the issues she discussed. Complex topics were communicated clearly and with real authenticity, offering meaningful take aways for anyone looking to better understand and support neurodiversity in the workplace. A fantastic contribution to our event, I would highly recommend!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. First class support from beginning to end. In particular Alicia Collinson provided outstanding legal advice and support throughout our process minimising the stress and pressure of such challenging circumstances. Their guidance has enabled us to negotiate a significantly reduced settlement and avoid the potential untenable costs and risks associated with proceeding to tribunal. Highly recommend!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We were recommended to Crystal Boyd by another solicitor when my partner was facing redundancy and we felt he was being treated unfairly, particularly regarding his entitlement after many years of service.

From the outset, Crystal was incredibly helpful. During our initial free consultation, she took the time to fully understand the situation and provided clear, practical advice. She also helped my partner draft an email and prepare for an upcoming consultation meeting, which made a real difference.

Although we had planned to formally engage Crystal and her team, my partners company ultimately refused to negotiate any improved redundancy package. After carefully considering the potential costs and risks of taking the matter to a tribunal, we decided not to proceed.

Throughout this process, Crystal was professional, compassionate, and completely transparent. She outlined the possible outcomes and cost implications in detail, helping us make an informed decision without any pressure to continue. We were especially grateful for the support and guidance she provided at no cost.

We would not hesitate to recommend Crystal Boyd and the employment law team. Her expertise and genuine care for her clients truly stand out.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Thrive Law are fantastic. It will never be a good circumstance that takes you to an employment solicitor but I was very lucky with Alicia and her team. Alicia is knowledgeable, intuitively strategic, at the same time very calming and generally the voice of reason at a really difficult time. Thank you again!
