A Thrive Law and Paritier perspective
At Thrive Law and Paritier, we’ve seen first-hand how inclusion at work often stops short when it comes to women’s health. It’s not because employers don’t care. More often, it’s because they don’t know where to start, or they’re worried about getting it wrong.
But the reality is this: menstrual health, menopause, fertility challenges, hormone-related conditions, and miscarriage are everyday experiences for so many people in the workplace. Yet most organisations still don’t have the right tools, language, or confidence to respond in a meaningful way.
That’s where we come in.
Through our partnership, bringing together Thrive’s legal and cultural expertise, Paritier’s specialist workplace strategies, and clinical input from Harley Street experts, we’re helping employers build workplaces where no one has to suffer in silence. Where women’s health is acknowledged, supported, and prioritised. And where inclusion feels less like a policy and more like a promise.
What Good Looks Like and Why It Works
We don’t believe in theory without action. That’s why we love sharing stories like the one from West Yorkshire Police, who have taken big, brave steps to support their people through menopause.
With over 330 employees engaged in their programme, they have introduced:
- Menopause cafés and in-person conversations
- A Wellbeing Passport, so health needs and adjustments don’t get lost if someone changes roles or managers
- A clearly structured agile working policy, offering clarity and flexibility
- Simple but powerful tools such as a ‘black cardigan’ system to support menstrual needs discreetly and respectfully
None of this required a flashy campaign. It worked because of leadership commitment, thoughtful planning, and a willingness to act.
Why Storytelling Still Matters
We’ve sat in sessions where men have spoken openly about learning more about hormonal health through tools like the Flow app, and how that changed not only how they show up at home but also at work.
And we’ve seen the opposite. In a recent session with a senior leadership team that lasted nearly three hours, not once did anyone say the word “period.” Not out of malice, but because the discomfort runs deep.
This is why storytelling matters. It creates empathy, unlocks honesty, and gives people permission to speak up, to learn, and to lead differently.
What Employers Can Actually Do, Starting Now
You don’t need a complete health and wellbeing strategy to begin. You just need a starting point. That could be:
- Introducing Women’s Health Champions, trusted colleagues trained to provide support
- Bringing men into the room, especially senior leaders, so this is not seen as a “women’s issue”
- Offering customisable wellbeing support, allowing people to access what they need most, when they need it
- Creating peer-led follow-ups, to check in with those who have opened up difficult conversations and make sure they are not left unsupported
These actions don’t need to be perfect. But they do need to be genuine.
Culture First. Then Policy.
Policies are important. But they will only ever be effective if the culture supports them.
People need to feel safe enough to say, “I’m not okay,” or “I’m struggling with my hormones,” without fear of being dismissed, judged, or sidelined.
That’s why our partnership matters. Together, Thrive Law and Paritier provide legal clarity, cultural insight, clinical support, and a practical, real-world approach.
We’re not here to tick boxes. We’re here to help you create change that lasts.
Not Sure Where to Start? That’s Okay.
Most employers aren’t. But the important thing is to begin.
You might want to review your flexible working policy through the lens of hormonal health. You could book a learning session that uses real stories to break the silence. Or you might simply open a space where your teams can talk honestly.
